3. Touchpad / Laptop Mouse Training

Goal: Learn how laptop touchpads work and understand tapping versus clicking.

Many new computer users struggle because they do not understand that touching or tapping the touchpad controls the arrow and clicking behavior.

4. Screen (“Glass”) vs Paper Reading Comprehension

Why does reading on a screen feel harder?

Some people can read something perfectly on paper and fully understand it, but when reading the exact same words on a computer screen (“glass”), their mind seems to go blank.

This is a real and commonly observed issue.

Why it happens:

  • Screens encourage skimming instead of deep reading 
  • The brain may feel distracted or overloaded 
  • Eye fatigue can reduce focus 
  • The person may be concentrating so hard on operating the computer that comprehension suffers 
  • Paper provides physical cues that help memory and understanding 

The good news: this can improve quickly with practice.

Recommended Reading Exercise

Read only one short paragraph at a time.

After reading:

  1. Stop 
  2. Explain what it means in your own words 
  3. Highlight the key idea 
  4. Continue to the next paragraph 

Do NOT read long sections at first.

Goal: Build confidence and comprehension gradually.
